How overnight dispatch actually works
The dispatch model at 3am is the same as at 3pm: the dispatcher receives the booking, identifies the nearest available operator on the panel for the collection postcode, contacts the operator, confirms the booking, and gives you an arrival window. The process takes 3 to 8 minutes.
What changes at 3am is operator density. Fewer operators are on active duty overnight. Urban areas, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, maintain reasonable overnight density because of the volume of late-night breakdowns, police-instructed recoveries, and fleet recoveries. Rural areas have fewer operators available at 3am; the nearest available operator may be 30 to 50 km away, extending the arrival window.
The dispatcher will give you an honest arrival window based on the actual operator availability at the time of booking. A 90-minute window in rural Lancashire at 3am is not an excuse; it is an accurate reflection of the nearest operator's location.
